Aromas are essential to the character of many products, including fruit juice, coffee, tea or perfume. Consistency and quality are crucial to a product's success. This is where aroma rectification comes into play. This thermal separation process not only enables the removal of unwanted substances such as solvents or carriers, but also the concentration of valuable aroma components. Pure aroma concentrates are thus obtained that can be individually formulated to maintain the flavour and fragrance at the highest level.
The technology of the new DEVEX plant is based on fractional distillation which makes use of the different evaporation points of the components. In the fractionating column, the vapours of the lighter components, known as low boiling components, rise and are condensed at the top of the column. The heavy components flow back into the vessel. A vacuum technology that reduces evaporation temperatures enables particularly precise and gentle separation.
One plant for many applications
The new DEVEX pilot plant has been designed for flexibility and can be operated with both aqueous and flammable solvents. It can be used in a wide range of applications. The plant offers solutions and consistent product quality for numerous industries, from extracting natural flavours from fruit juices, coffee or tea to processing essential oils. "For us, aroma rectification is a key technology for remaining competitive in a dynamic market," says Christoph Markmann, Managing Director at DEVEX. "It guarantees consistent product quality even with fluctuating raw material quality. It also enables the sustainable use of raw materials as they can be efficiently processed. This means we have set new standards – both in terms of technology and sustainability."
With this investment, DEVEX strengthens its position as an innovative partner for companies that rely on precise and sustainable thermal processes for aroma extraction.
